In light of the swine flu outbreak in many regions around the world, the Sand!sational comittee is sorry to announce the postponement of the Sandsational Race 2009 to early December this year. We assure you that this decision was made after much consideration by the organising committee.
To all participants who have sent in your registration form, our committee would be mailing you a letter together with the cheque you have previously sent.
On a lighter note, the postponement of the event would allow all you interested to-be-participants to sign up soon at a later date! Because the event would be held during the holidays, it would be much more convenient for you guys who have to prepare for the upcoming examinations!
We hope that this would not deter you racers out there from joining the race! And despite the postponement, the race would still be as exciting and as fun as ever :)

Hey Guys and Girls,
I urge those of you who are uncertain of whether to sign up, to immediately SEND YOUR APPLICATION FORMS IN! 8th May is the closing date for registration, so wait no more and keep those registration forms coming in!
Just to clarify,
1) Bikes will be provided to ensure fairness. So PERSONAL BIKES ARE NOT ALLOWED! But that doesn't matter, the fun doesn't come from whether it is your own bike or not, but from working through the race with your buddies and close pals!
2) Attractive cash prizes to be won! You will not be disappointed! Play hard and you'll win what you deserve during the race! At the end of the race, you'll also receive a certificate in recognition of your participation in the SAND!sational Race!
3) Registration cost for PAssion! Card holders is $15 per person for a team of 5 and for Non PAssion! Card holders, the cost will just be 2 dollars more at $17 per person for a team of 5!
4) The cost includes bike rental for a day, and a goodie bag :D which contains snacks, bottled drinks, event T-shirt and other miscellaneous items! In addition, you get a chance to win attractive prizes! If youre thinking whether it is worth it, I have to tell you YES IT IS.

More About The Race!
Hey all!
Still not signed up? Well, here's more details about the race to whet your appetite! Under "Downloads!", you can download the file 'Sandsational! Race Dictionary', which provides you with important information you will need to know about the race process. It tells you what you need to prepare for the race and what you would be provided with. The Race Dictionary also explains the different roles of the people there, as well as the obstacles you would have to overcome during the race.
Now for a little sneak peak into the station activities...
Making your way on wheels (bicycle wheels), you would travel from East Coast Park to Changi Beach Park, while passing through some main stations and 7 bonus side missions. The side missions would be short optional activities for your team to gain bonus points which might just help you win the race, even if your team doesn't finish first. These stations will either have mentally challenging or physically challenging activities which you would have to complete, with your team members, before receiving your clue to the next station.
So if you love the challenge of solving anagrams and riddles, or the chance put those muscles to the test and compare them with others, we're sure you'll have loads of fun in this SANDsational Race! There'll be plenty of opportunities for you guys out there to show off your steel strength and endurance. For the girls, this would be a great chance for you to show everyone that you are definitely not the weaker sex, and are just as capable in winning a bike race!

Keep sending in those registration forms and don't forget the money, to be sent along with it. Remember to read the rules and regulations, analyse it if you must! The rules and regulations should be your "Bible" for this race, you cannot live without it. If you haven't received a copy from your school, it can be obtained in this blog under the section "DOWNLOADS" at the side column, so NO WORRIES, all hope is not lost. Also, it's best to start educating yourself on the upcoming SYOG 2010, you may need this valuable information during the race.*hint hint
It's a really long BIKE race lasting from morning to evening so i advise you to work out those leg muscles which you would be using pretty much during the race. And don't worry, bikes will be provided.
